Image Creation & Computography |
|
| Computography is a fairly recent term applied to generation of images or "photographs" entirely within the computer. For a number of years, both 2D and 3D imaging software has been available to the Draftsman, Designer or Manufacturer for CAD (Computer-Assisted Design) or CAM (Computer Assisted Manufacturing) applications. The film industry of late has elevated the art of wire-frame, multi-dimensional computography to new heights. | ![]() |

Some of the on-screen effects now seen on a daily basis are actually Cinematography combined with the liberal use of Computography. The film "Toy Story" is a classic example of a feature created entirely by Computography while the recent epic "Titanic" owes some of its more memorable scenes to the brilliant application of Computography. |
| The Ballbearing on Linoleum and Sphinx images above were generated entirely by computer; no photographs or video footage were used. They are Computography "stills" while the picture at right (an animated .gif image) is made up of computer-generated images strung together to produce a series of video-like "frames". | ![]() |
